Other Sooner legends honored were Steve Owens, Greg Pruitt, Tom Brahaney, Joe Washington, Billy Sims, Jason White and, with his arm in a sling, Sam Bradford.

Nebraska legends honored were Will Shields, Dave Rimington, Johnny Rodgers, Larry Jacobson, Aaron Taylor, Tommie Frazier, Dean Steinkuhler, Trev Alberts, Eric Crouch, Zach Wiegert, Mike Rozier and former coach and current athletic NU athletic director Tom Osborne.

At the reception Friday night, comic Larry the Cable Guy, a longtime Nebraska fan, zinged every honoree with a one-liner. On Sims, whose late fumble at the Nebraska 3-yard line cost OU the 1978 Big Red game, Larry the Cable Guy said, "You should have been here two weeks ago, when we honored you with seven fumbles."

WR Caleb held out

Junior wide receiver Brandon Caleb suited up, but was held out against the Cornhuskers. Caleb, who injured his ankle last weekend against Kansas State, practiced late in the week and was hoping to play. He elevated himself to a game-time decision, but struggled to cut during pregame warm-ups. Senior Adron Tennell started in his place. When Tennell was knocked out of the game during the second quarter, Cameron Kenney entered the game.

Tulsa native shines

Nebraska's Phillip Dillard, a senior linebacker and Tulsa native, had eight tackles against the Sooners, including a 13-yard sack in the first quarter. He also returned a fourth-quarter interception nine yards.

The performance was the fourth consecutive game Dillard recorded at least five tackles.

Eldridge, English injured

Brody Eldridge and Auston English were both sidelined with injuries and did not return. Eldridge suffered a shoulder injury in the first half, and tried to return, but was forced to the bench. English suffered a left lower leg injury and did not return.

Eldridge was replaced at right guard by Brian Lepak, and later, Jarvis Jones. English was replaced by Frank Alexander.

Familiar/unfamiliar territory

Saturday's game featured a scoreless first quarter, and the Sooners trailed 7-3 at halftime. The Sooners haven't allowed a first-quarter point in 11 games, dating back to a win over Missouri in last season's Big 12 title game. Oklahoma opponents have only scored three first-quarter points in the last 15 games.

On offense, Oklahoma didn't score a first-half touchdown for the first time since the 2008 Fiesta Bowl when the Sooners trailed West Virginia 20-6 on a pair of Garrett Hartley field goals.

Yankee sighting

Fresh off playing his part in the New York Yankees' latest World Series title, former Nebraska pitcher Joba Chamberlain roamed the sidelines and was recognized before the game.

It certainly is hard to lose! What an unusual season for us OU fans! Let's hope this doesn't happen again in our lifetime! Ha

you stoopid gooner fans could take a lesson from the "cobbers" as you call them. they are classy and don't say "home of the HUSKERS" at the end of the national anthem. gooner fans are pathetic trailer trash losers.

Ben, I'm not sure which section you were sitting in but I can tell you in my section they clearly stood up when Switzer was announced and I could see it in other parts of the stadium as well. Not everyone stood, but many did and I was one of them. Nebraska fans have a lot of respect for the Oklahoma program. Those who were around during the Switzer years appreciate all the great teams and competition. Everyone looked forward to that game. Switzer has a lot of repsect for the Nebraska program and for Tom Osborne and we appreciate that as well.

Switzer did not get standing ovation. The crowd was already standing. The cheering became louder when he was introduced, but the standing "O" was not just for Switzer. I was there - don't try to make it something it wasn't..............

Amen Brian........people amaze me by claiming to know more than the coaches. If they know as much as they think they know then get a degree, get a teaching certificate and start coaching....otherwise shut the hell up!

The ppl who are asking for the OU' coaching staff jobs are wanna be coaches themselves. Give it up ppl you can't have their job. You probly didn't even play at your school or start on your team. So just shut up and let them do their jobs! OK! It your going to complain then complain about the right person! James Patton anyone? The O-Line isn't up to par is it? But they have had alot of injuries so don't really know if he deserves it really! BOOMER SOONER!!
Brian, Okemah - Nov 8, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Eldridge and English hurt? Man, what's next? The Sooners are hurting, bad. This is already a horrible season as far as Sooner standards are concerned. No more injuries, please. And stop asking for Stoops to go. Who would you have replace him? Stoops is a good coach. OU is just having a bad year. They'll be back.

1. Barry Switzer for governor
2.All the legends from both sides are my heros.
3. Injuries- are we really in shape?
4. Offense- we're not high powered. ESPN highlights other teams running around crazy making plays- running backs running loose, recievers catching balls, special teams being special. What has OU done to get on the highlight reel?
5. Defense- hang in there.
6. OU isn't top 50 when they play like this.
