A Cleveland County judge is expected to hear senior linebacker Mike Balogun’s case against the NCAA today. Balogun filed three additional affidavits on Friday to prove he did not play semi-pro football after turning age21, which the NCAA is currently investigating.

But Balogun’s case might not be heard today after all. Balogun’s attorney, Woody Glass, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Saturday that a compromise with the NCAA regarding Balogun’s eligibility could be reached outside of the courtroom.

"We are working on resolving the situation in a way that will be a case of win-win for everyone,” Glass told the newspaper.

Balogun had his NCAA eligibility decertified Aug. 14, and is under investigation by the NCAA. If the NCAA finds he did play in the North American Football League after age 21, he would lose his final year of eligibility.

Balogun was originally scheduled to stop practicing last Wednesday, but was granted a temporary injunction and is still practicing with the team.

Sophomore Jarvis Jones has played both guard and tackle during the preseason, earning praise from the elder members of the offensive line.

"He’s been one of the big surprises of camp for me. He just has a tenacity, a mean streak to him,” said senior offensive lineman Brian Simmons.

"All the tackles get the (publicity) and everything, but you gotta have that nastiness to play guard. You’re dealing with 300-pound gorillas in there.”
