As much as Oklahoma receiver Kenny Stills might have hinted Monday that he will be suspended for the opener against Tulsa, Sooners coach Bob Stoops chose not to reveal his status.

“You know, I don't ever announce whether someone is (available) or not,” Stoops said.

Stills was arrested in late January on a misdemeanor DUI charge. The sophomore, the second-leading receiver on last year's team, showed disappointment in several tweets Monday morning.

“Gunna be a tough week for me,” he tweeted.

Later, he told punter Tress Way he would “prepare just like I was getting after it on Saturday. You learn from your mistakes,” he said later, “but it's rough when you already knew better.” Told about Stills' tone, Stoops still didn't budge.

“Well, that's up to him,” he said. “He can say whatever he wants. I'll stick to my protocol for (the past) 13 years.”

Stoops did confirm Monday that freshman defensive tackle Jordan Phillips is officially practicing and eligible. Phillips tweeted Friday he had been given the thumbs up from the NCAA's Clearinghouse.

Freshman receiver Trey Metoyer did not get the news he wanted, though, and Stoops said he'll spend the fall at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. Stoops said he thought Metoyer would still have four years of eligibility upon enrolling at OU in January.

Additionally, Stoops said freshman defensive tackle Jordan Wade is sitting out this fall, “continuing to work on a grade and test score and we hope he can be here” after the season.
