Speakers will include OU President David Boren; Robert Mannel, director of the OU Cancer Institute; and Christy Everest, chairman and chief executive of The Oklahoma Publishing Co. Everest is co-chairman of the OU Cancer Institute Campaign with her husband, Jim Everest.

Set to open in late 2010, the building will house the state’s leading center for cancer research, education, treatment, and prevention. The institute is working toward becoming the state’s first National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, the gold standard for cancer research and care in the United States.

The 210,000-square-foot-building will include the latest generation of proton radiation therapy and the state’s only cancer Phase I Clinical Trials Center. It also will have outpatient clinical programs; multidisciplinary, organ-site based oncology clinics; chemotherapy infusion facilities; traditional radiation and brachytherapy options; and comprehensive diagnostic imaging services.

An array of patient and family support services will be offered, as well as a conference center and cancer patient resource center. The building will house physician offices, and administrative offices.

For more information about the ceremony or to arrange for disability accommodations, call the OU Office of Special Events at 325-3784.
