OU Update: Worst Game of The Season?

Nov 9Was Nebraska the worst game of the season for quarterback Landry...

Jones, a transfer out of LSU, was listed as the backup right tackle behind Cory Brandon for the Nebraska game and had started six games this season.

The news on Jones came a day after the Sooners found out they would also be without offensive lineman/tight end Brody Eldridge and defensive lineman Auston English for the rest of the season.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

that was the only pic of Jarvis that there wasn't a flag at his feet!
Scott, Indian Territory - Nov 11, 2009 at 10:27 am
wow curtis I hadn't even really looked at the picture, nice call. What a strange picture to put up, why would you put up a picture with some random injured player in it?
Travis, OKC - Nov 11, 2009 at 9:50 am
Maybe it's Karma on this one.....he doesn't seem to give a flying flip about the Tulsa player he's walking past in the picture.
curtis, cushing - Nov 11, 2009 at 9:45 am
Travis, maybe they thought you were being sarcastic? :)
Scott, Indian Territory - Nov 11, 2009 at 7:57 am
The last time osu has own in norman was 2002?? AND 2009!!!!

GO POKES!!!
Jason, Tulsa - Nov 11, 2009 at 7:49 am
"Travis- are you crazy? most of OSU's most recent wins have been in Norman"

Is this a joke? I don't know what you are talking about.

"what the hell are you talking about travis? osu has only won in norman once this decade."

Yeah, that is why I said they always play terrible in Norman.

I think you guys misread my comment.
Travis, OKC - Nov 10, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Steve, Ketchum, you are wrong. There is a good JC transfer that will make a difference at center next season. He had to sit this season out. There are other players that really do have talent that are red shirts. So, you will see a better O-Line next season that will be able to block and play their positions...... The aggie fans better enjoy the down year OU is having, because it will be the last for a long time.
UnSub, Yukon - Nov 10, 2009 at 6:49 pm
Scott, the answer to if they will be improved next year is a resounding NO. Did you see the BYU game? All those mistakes are still being made. No OU does not have anyone in the depth chart, sitting on the bench nor coming in that will make any good impact. All the crap talk about this years line will be the very same thing next year. LJ is an okay QB, don't expect a heisman performance next year from him nor any other QB on the team. Recievers? ha ha ha. You see what we have and only Dejuan Miller seems to have promise, but don't forget Wilson, he is the one who won't let the guys that practice bad get on the field to EXPIERENCE!!!! The individual players may be pretty good, but the coaching at the ast level and at the coordinator level of offense have sucked beyond anyone's imagination.

You want another winning team that contends for titles,,,, FIRE KEVIN WILSON NOW, bring someone else in and in a couple of years the Sooners will be back on track.
Steve, Ketchum - Nov 10, 2009 at 6:29 pm
wow at this rate madu will be playing center snaping the ball to nimmo by bedlam. this season gets worse by the minute. what the he!! did sooner nation do to deserve this.
kevin, commerce - Nov 10, 2009 at 5:04 pm
John, the same can be said about you gooner fans....write an article that is good about OSU and all it does is bring out the Gooner fans...all that said I hate to hear about all the injuries that the Sooners are dealing with....Like someone already said Stoopes must have really pissed the football gods off....best of luck Sooners for the rest of the season...
Kevin, Yukon - Nov 10, 2009 at 3:56 pm
The Sooners just need to stay focused on the 3 games remaining. If they start feeling sorry for themselves, they will get their butts kicked! Maybe with some of these injuries to the O-line and them not being able to play, they will find that guy in the rotation that hadnt got the chance/reps that will step up and become that difference maker.

Bruce, why would it collapse? No one will be up there?! lol! Just kidding of course! Bob, don't forget that the game will be "too early" for some Sooners and some will "screw the Poke fan" by selling them their tickets for $20 over face. I'm afraid if OU loses in Lubbock OSU will fill up about 1/2 of the Gaylord come the 28th. Good luck until then Pokes!
Scott, Indian Territory - Nov 10, 2009 at 3:41 pm
At this rate I expect the the upper deck on the west side to collapse Saturday.
Bruce, League City - Nov 10, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Matt, you are absolutely right about OSU's troubles in Norman. OU is tough to beat there, by ANYONE, not just OSU, and they have not lost at home this season, either. This could be a different kind of game though, OSU is playing well, with a healthy senior qb (finger crossed). You can look for a far more competitive contest this year, IMO. An OU win is by no means guaranteed, as most of you seem to think. It will be interesting to see the Vegas line on the game.

Wow. Simply amazing. Just what the #ell is going to happen next? Wait...maybe I'd better shut my mouth as to not give the football Gods some ideas...ha ha ha.....you know, if someone told me in the first month of August all this would happen, I'd laugh at them. I guess the jokes on me. But, like it was said on the sports animal last night driving home, if you think the Sooners are suppose to win every NC, your crazy. But, I'll just keep rooting for them as I always do. But, moving on to next year, is it going to get any better? When do ya'll think our next "year" will be? Are we still getting good recruits? Either they will back away and look at a more winning program of recent, or look at it like they will have a chance to shine and OU needs help and has vacancies.
Scott, Chickasha - Nov 10, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Nothing brings out the OSU whiners like an article on the Sooners.

what the hell are you talking about travis? osu has only won in norman once this decade. granted, the rivalry is so lop-sided, that may be considered most of their wins..lmao.

but they do have problems in norman.

49-17,42-14, 52-9. last 3 scores in norman, all ou victories.

Ryan, get your facts straight. You only need one finger to count the number of their wins in Norman during the Stoops era.

If I were Willie Warren, I'd make sure to stay away from the football players for fear of picking up some of their bad luck!
Jordan, Norman - Nov 10, 2009 at 2:36 pm
Holy sh*& I have never seen anything like this....I feel for ya sooner fans.
james, Oklahoma City - Nov 10, 2009 at 2:30 pm
Wow. Stoops must've really angered the football gods somehow. This is crazy.

Reports out of Norman are that Jarvis Jones was hit in the back of the foot by one of Tress Way's FG attempts ... thus the broken heel bone.

Dianne, don't flatter yourself. Pokes are good, Aggies are playing better but neither of you have done enough to even start talking. Am I the only one waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come in somewhere?
eudell, Virginia Beach - Nov 10, 2009 at 2:10 pm
Are you sure this is legit, or just doing it for an excuse when the lose to the Aggies and POKES!
Dianne, Frisco - Nov 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm
OU should take this one 77-0
Ed Lova, Oklahoma City - Nov 10, 2009 at 1:53 pm
OU may not win A&M or OSU game. A&M is pretty salty, and OSU wants this one in the worst way. when you beat up on people year after year, don't expect any mercy either. It might get ugly from here on out!

ryan, with all of the injuries on the o-line, i am worried about landry jones getting hurt next.
chris, weatherford - Nov 10, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Wow, people saying whether OU will be bowl eligible is almost 50/50, that is crazy. Come on, they only have to win 1 more. They will easily beat A&M and OSU always plays terrible in Norman. Tech is looking tough for OU since it is on the road.
Travis, OKC - Nov 10, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Are we sure of all of these injuries? Or are all of these guys just jumping ship before it sinks. Something just doesn't seem right. What about the guy that had gone home for a family death but had also been suspended earlier in the season?

I agree let's get this season over as fast as possible. The rate the players are leaving or "getting hurt" there won't be anyone left standing.
William, Fairfield - Nov 10, 2009 at 1:30 pm
I think sometimes when you get the 5 STAR athletes that come here to play think 'they deserve to play'....we need some 2-4 star recruits that want to come here and 'PLAY' their tales off. The entire team just seems to lack that FIRE&DESIRE they once had. Maybe I'm just expected too much from year to year, but this one was filled with all the oppurtunity of such a good year, and the spokes just keep falling off the wheels. The wagon is going to crash soon if bad news keeps coming !!

Open try-outs for OU offensive linemen may be going on as we speak. I'm sure there are lots of All-State linemen who could walk on adn do as good a job as some of these guys. Hey, you got any eligibility left? OU got a problem and they need help!

Can't win them every year, Get well soon to all those that are hurt! Alamo Bowl chomping at the bits to get OU for the first time in their bowl history, beat A&M and it's probably a done deal.
SoonerChris, Norman - Nov 10, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Well, there's another nail in the coffin. Call this season a wrap already. We'll come back Bigger, Faster, and Stronger next year. Let all the losers down south have their fun now. After all, who has the longer Winning tradition?
David, Moore - Nov 10, 2009 at 1:02 pm
There weren't any linemen at the first of the year. That's how Sam got hurt. Defensiveman came right over the best lineman (Williams) when he got hurt. They will be bowl bound, just not BCS. I think it's the loser's bowl.
