“Some of the egos are escalating,” said an OU administrator.

OU officials spent Thursday and early Friday discussing the various options should A&M leave the 10-team Big 12. Some favor trying to keep the Big 12 together, while others favor seeking new conference alignments. The Pac-12 is the most-discussed option, since the then-Pac-10 offered an invitation last summer, but some have brought up the Big Ten.

Orangebloods.com reported that Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Wednesday that he hopes the Big 12 stays together. Dodds spoke at a Young Men's Business League of Austin luncheon.

Dodds said his preference is for the Big 12 to bring in another school to replace A&M, should the Aggies leave. He also mentioned Texas and Notre Dame joining forces to create a new conference, should the Big 12 disintegrate.
