The Oklahoma Blood Institute wrapped up this season's Bedlam Blood Battle trophy.

Oklahoma State University won the Bedlam Blood Battle, with 1,448 volunteers on OSU's campus giving blood during the five-day blood drive.

At the University of Oklahoma, 1,310 gave blood.

This is the third year OSU has won the battle and a trophy is to be presented to student leaders Saturday at the Texas Tech football game in Stillwater.

The Bedlam Blood Battle will make a lifesaving difference for some 6,930 people, since a maximum of three lives can be saved by each blood donor, OBI said.

Blood donors with Oklahoma Blood Institute provide every drop of blood needed by patients in 140 medical facilities statewide, including all Oklahoma City metro-area hospitals.

OBI is the ninth largest, nonprofit blood center in the United States.
