Sooners travel to Lubbock
The top-ranked Oklahoma softball team returns to action this weekend with its first Big 12 Conference road series of the year at Texas Tech.
The Sooners (34-2, 3-0 Big 12) are 37-7 all-time against the Red Raiders (27-15, 1-5 Big 12).
OU is led by senior Keilani Ricketts, the winningest pitcher in program history. Ricketts' career record is 116-35, and she is 18-1 this season. At the plate, she's hitting .429 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs.
But Ricketts isn't OU's only standout in the circle. Michelle Gascoigne is 14-1 with an ERA of 0.86. Ricketts has thrown 12 shutouts, Gascoigne has thrown six and the pair combined on another.
Game 1 of the series at Rocky Johnson Field is set for 7 p.m. Friday. Game 2 is at 4 p.m. Saturday, and the series finale is at noon Sunday.
Cowgirls visit Baylor
The Oklahoma State softball team travels to Waco, Texas, this weekend for a three-game Big 12 series against No. 20 Baylor.
The Cowgirls (24-17, 2-4 Big 12) are 29-20 all-time against the Bears (30-10, 3-5).
OSU junior Tarah Ettinger leads the team in batting average (.355), hits (43), home runs (7), slugging percentage (.579) and runs batted in (31). Senior Tamara Brown is hitting .330 with 38 hits, 10 doubles and 27 runs scored.
In the circle, junior Simone Freeman is 11-7 and has a 2.18 ERA with 145 strikeouts. Senior Kat Espinosa (13-10) has 160 strikeouts in 33 appearances and a 2.26 ERA.
Game 1 is at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday's game starts at 2 p.m., Sunday's first pitch is at 1 p.m.
