In a video posted online yesterday, the dean of the University of Oklahoma Honors College raised questions about the value of a modern college education.

OU professor David Ray spoke for nearly 20 minutes at last month's TEDxOU event, breaking down the political, economic, social and cultural changes in American collegiate education since World War II.

TEDxOU operates as a localized affiliate of the popular TED idea-swapping conferences, and is hosted by OU.

During his TEDxOU talk, Professor Ray, who joined the OU faculty in 1992 and previously taught at Georgia Tech and Boston College, contends that students who graduate from college now are "not necessarily as skilled as they should be," in comparison to previous generations of graduates.
