OU recruiting notebook: Sooners developing Euless connection

When Euless (Texas) Trinity defensive end Polo Manukainiu committed to OU earlier this week, he became the second Trojans player to commit to the Sooners in as many years.

OU coaches hope a third will join the mix before signing day.

Manukainiu will join former high school teammate Nila Kasitati with the Sooners. Kasitati is Manukainiu's cousin.

Trinity linebacker Brian Nance, who Manukainiu describes as his best friend, also has an offer from the Sooners.

Nance, the top uncommitted player in the Dallas area, has scheduled official visits for OU, Baylor and USC.

It's not just the Sooner football team that's developing the connection with Trinity, though. Baseball player Enrique Oquendo is also committed to OU.

Sooners quarterback commit Trevor Knight threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another in San Antonio Reagan's 28-10 win over Pflugerville on Friday night, but there's no doubt which of the three was his favorite.

With the game scoreless early, Knight hit twin brother Connor on a fade route to the corner to put the Rattlers up 7-0.

“It's always fun to throw to my brother,” Trevor told the San Antonio Express-News. “Nobody can stop him in the red zone. He's a beast.”
