OU shortstop Long chosen Big 12's top defensive player

Oklahoma senior Savannah Long highlighted the state schools' presence on the Big 12 All-Conference softball team. The Sooner shortstop was named Defensive Player of the Year and was one of five OU players on the All-Conference first team.

Texas A&M pitcher/first baseman Megan Gibson swept the major awards, winning both Player and Pitcher of the Year honors. Texas A&M's Jo Evans was named Coach of the Year.

Other Sooners on the first team were Amber Flores, D.J. Mathis, Samantha Ricketts and Lindsey Vandever.

Oklahoma State freshman infielders Mariah Gearhart and Alysia Hamilton were on the second team, along with senior outfielder Kim Kaye. Sooner seniors Lauren Eckermann and Susan Ogden were also on the second team.
