OU signee James Haynes tabbed as one of nation's top safeties

James Haynes patrolled the secondary with teammate Trey Franks in high school at West Orange, Texas (Stark).

He might be able to do it at OU, too.

Haynes, ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 18 safety, picked Oklahoma over Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, joining Franks, who signs with Oklahoma as an athlete.

Haynes will likely have grown from his 6-1, 181-pound frame and 42-inch vertical jump when he takes over in the Sooners secondary, which returns both Quinton Carter and Sam Proctor at safety.
