NORMAN — As a four-star receiver at La Costa Canyon in Carlsbad, Calif., Kenny Stills earned offers from nearly every school in the Pac-10, and a handful of others stretching all the way to Florida on the east coast.
Stills visited Gainesville to get an up close look at the Gators, as well Michigan and Tennessee. And, of course, Oklahoma.
"Recruiting is a lot like prom; you get all dressed up and she gets all dressed up. She does her hair fancy and her makeup. You both look your best," Stills told Sports Illustrated during his recruitment. "Then in the morning, you wake up and see what it all really looks like, when everything isn't pretty."
Norman was pretty enough for Stills to sign up with the Sooners.
Making it to Stills' actual prom might be a chore, since the 6-2, 175-pound receiver is one of five early enrollees who began classes at OU in January.
Rivals.com rates Stills as America's No. 23 receiver, thanks to his stick-em hands and 4.4 40-time.
Stills will take part when spring practice begins in March, hoping his slender frame can help an OU receiving corps that struggled with inconsistency for much of the 2009 season.
