NORMAN — Junior first baseman Lauren Chamberlain has missed the last six games with a back injury that typically takes six weeks to recover from, according to a news release.

Before this injury, Chamberlain hadn’t missed a start in her 148 career games as a Sooner. She was hitting .316 for the season with six home runs and 16 RBIs before his six-game absence.

The two-time All-American and team captain was batting .545 with five home runs in the nine games prior to her injury.

OU has gone 4-2 with Chamberlain out, including a two-game sweep of LSU last weekend.

The Sooners return to action Wednesday at home against North Texas, and then open Big 12 play next weekend at Iowa State.
