NORMAN — It won’t be difficult to find a member of the 2009 football recruiting class on the field at the start of Oklahoma’s Red-White Spring Game today.

The Red will boast quarterback Drew Allen, wideout Jaz Reynolds, linemen Tyler Evans and Gabe Ikard, defensive back Jamarkus McFarland, linebackers Tom Wort and Jaydan Bird and cornerback Demontre Hurst in its starting lineup.

The White will lean on fullback Marshall Musil, lineman Josh Aladenoye, linebacker Ronnell Lewis and defensive tackle Javon Harris.

Underscoring the talent and depth of the 2009 group, no other class claims as many Spring Game starters. Another example of why the 2009 recruiting class could prove to be one of OU’s most special in the Bob Stoops era.

"Some of them have done well, some of them need to do better, but they’re all working well,” Stoops said. "It’s just natural guys that have played as true freshmen, then have the spring, winter and summer behind them, they’re almost always going to be better the following year. "I think these guys will.”

The depth and potential of the class is extraordinary. Last season, nine true freshmen, a Stoops record, were pressed into action, due to depth and injury issues on both sides of the ball.
