OU student from Edmond found dead on Norman campus
Casey Cooke, of Edmond, was found dead Sunday on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman. She planned to attend medical school, her father said.
NORMAN — A University of Oklahoma student was found dead Sunday, authorities said.
Casey Cooke, of Edmond, was found unresponsive shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday east of Evans Hall, OU spokeswoman Catherine Bishop said.

Cooke, 22, held a bachelor's degree in zoology and was pursuing a second bachelor's degree in Spanish while studying for the Medical College Entrance Exam. Cooke planned to attend medical school at the OU Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, said her father, Richard Cooke.
She was a 2008 graduate of Edmond North High School, where she was a valedictorian.
Services are pending at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
An OU news release issued Monday states:
“It is with great sadness that I tell you that an unresponsive female was found lying east of Evans Hall shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday morning by OU staff who patrol the area. EMS was called, and CPR was administered, but she had already expired.”
Cooke's body was transported to the state medical examiner's office, and authorities are investigating the death, Bishop said.
She said Cooke was enrolled at OU in the spring and is enrolled for fall 2012, but was not enrolled in summer school.
“The OU family is deeply saddened by this loss, and our heartfelt thoughts go to her family and friends,” the statement says.
