The Oklahoma Sooners will have a different look when they travel to Texas Tech in two weeks.
The Sooners will be wearing specially designed, state-of-the-art
Nike uniforms called Nike Pro Combat, which the company calls "football’s lightest system of dress ever created.”
OU is one of 10 schools that’s been nationally selected to provide a sneak peak of the new uniform before they are officially introduced in 2010.
Virginia Tech, TCU and
Florida State are three of the other schools Nike picked and have already unveiled their new uniforms.
Ohio State,
Florida,
Texas,
LSU,
Missouri and
Miami are believed to be the remaining schools.
One OU player said the Sooners will wear white helmets with gray facemasks as part of a throwback look.

Unlike most employees of the state, Bob helps to bring in a much greater amount than he is paid, an amount which is spread around at the University of Oklahoma (a public university partially funded by the state of Oklahoma). While Stoops is an employee of the University of Oklahoma, (a public university partially funded by the state of Oklahoma) his salary is actually paid out of the athletic department's budget.
The athletic department's budget is replenished mainly by the revenue brought in by the football team.
The result is that the product that Stoops puts on the field brings in the money that pays his salary, as well as goes to numerous other endeavors at the University of Oklahoma.
So I will remain one of the people who realize our tax dollars do not really go to Stoops. Thanks though Stefanie.

that is his salary paid of of the state government budget which comes from our tax dollars GO SOONERS!!
I hate gimmicks. OU has been all about tradition for years. Aside from minor changes and upgrades to the material... the Sooners have worn the same basic uniform for more than 40 years.
Doing throwbacks is a neat way to honor past teams... but this feels more like a gimmick, particularly since it's a road game.
Johnny, I've attended two games at Lubbock and the fans were very nice and fun to be around! Sorry you got such a bad taste. I suppose there are such fans in every stadium. I never saw anyone try to pick a fight! Wish I could go this year.
Jason, OKC - Why, yes I am. Thank you for noticing.
And no facemasks.
And it is true, the jerseys change every year. A tiny bit...Look at photos from the 80s to the 90s to today...I like the 2008 jerseys better than the 1988 jerseys. They used to wear the long sleeves down past their elbows and now you can actually see their arms. Sexxxy!
Seriously though, maybe these are some jerseys filled with Sooner Magic, and they will come to life when Jones gets the ball, and the O-line really WILL block for him. OK that isn't serious, but it'd be nice!
Surely the throw-back look is for one game only. Didn't they do that back in the Jason White days for one non-conference game? If they stick with the throw-back look, I'm done...
Sooners were a class-act, but are now selling out to "the man."
How exciting for Swooner fans -- each Saturday Swooner fans not knowing what fashion statement will come out of the tunnel.
How can one sleep not knowing?
OMG!! When you're really stinkin' up the season, there's nothing like changing your look.
It's better to look good than to be good, I suppose.
Maybe Rohde can cover the runway fashion show in Norman. There's no one better.
Boy, would Mike Leach be surprised!
