NORMAN — Tulsa is about to become a fixture on the Oklahoma non-conference slate.
Friday, the two schools announced they've agreed to a new contract that will add three games to the series in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
OU and Tulsa will play in Norman in 2009 and 2011 under an existing contract that included the Sooners traveling to face the Golden Hurricane at Chapman Stadium last season.
About 60 percent of the 35,000 fans in attendance were wearing crimson during the Sooners' 62-21 victory.
"Our series with Tulsa is a good one on many fronts,” said OU athletic director Joe Castiglione. "It makes sense for two in-state schools to compete on a somewhat routine basis, plus it allows us to play before many of our fans and alumni in the Tulsa area.”
Last season, the Golden Hurricane capped an impressive 10-4 season with a 63-7 victory over Bowling Green in the GMAC Bowl.
"TU has had a good football program for many years, and we certainly respect the caliber of team it puts on the field,” Castiglione said.
With the addition of Tulsa, OU's non-conference schedules through the next decade are beginning to take shape.
Between now and 2019, OU also has agreements to play home and homes with Florida State (2010, 2011), Notre Dame (2012, 2013), Tennessee (2014, 2015), Ohio State (2016, 2017) and LSU (2018, 2019).
The Sooners will also travel to Miami in 2009 and Cincinnati in 2010.
