OU women's basketball schedule announced

by Ryan Aber Published: August 7, 2013

A home game against Duke highlights Oklahoma’s women’s basketball schedule, which was announced Wednesday.

The Sooners will host the Blue Devils on Dec. 8 at Lloyd Noble Center in a game that features a pair of high school teammates going head to head.

Oklahoma’s Kaylon Williams returns after missing last season with a torn Achilles’ tendon that she suffered on the second day of practice. Williams is a Midwest City grad, like Duke senior Richa Jackson.

The Sooners start the home schedule with exhibition games against Cameron (Nov. 2) and Central Oklahoma (Nov. 5) before starting the regular season at home against Stetson on Nov. 8.

The game will be the Sooners’ opener in the Preseason NIT. If Oklahoma wins, it would play either Wichita State or Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne in the second round.

The tournament championship will be played Nov. 17 and televised on CBS Sports Network.

The Sooners travel to Los Angeles to meet UCLA on Nov. 24.

“The schedule is well-balanced and will challenge the core group of veterans and introduce our newcomers to the college game,” Sooners coach Sherri Coale said. “I’m thrilled to begin the next season of Oklahoma women’s basketball.”

The Big 12 schedule was also released Wednesday, with Oklahoma opening Big 12 play at Texas Tech on Jan. 2. The Sooners return home to face Iowa State on Jan. 5.

Bedlam will be played first in Norman on Feb. 1, with OU and OSU meeting again in Stillwater on Feb. 16.

The Sooners will host last season’s Big 12 champion, Baylor, on Feb. 3.

The Big 12 Women’s Tournament will be played in Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Arena starting March 7.

Season-ticket deposits for the 2013-14 season are on sale now and can be purchased online at SoonerSports.com or by phone at 800-456-GoOU. Single-game tickets will go on sale in October.
