OU’s Sam Bradford, Duke Robinson join OSU’s Dez Bryant on AP All-America team

NEW YORK — Fresh off winning the Heisman Trophy, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford was named to the Associated Press All-America first team on Tuesday. Bradford joined fellow Sooner Duke Robinson and Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant on the first team.

The Big 12 was well-represented on the first team with seven selections.

Oklahoma’s Jermaine Gresham and Gerald McCoy were named to the second team, while Oklahoma State’s Kendall Hunter and Oklahoma’s Phil Loadholt and Nic Harris were named to the third team.

Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis was an AP All-American for the third consecutive season.

Alabama put more players on the first team than any school, with about 1,000 pounds of linemen. Offensive tackle Andre Smith, listed at 330 pounds, was a unanimous first-team choice, and was joined by center Antoine Caldwell.

Crimson Tide nose guard Terrence Cody, listed at 365 pounds, anchored the top-ranked defense in the Southeastern Conference.

TexasColt McCoy, the Heisman runner-up, was the second-team quarterback, and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow made the third team.
