Actually, OSU and OU have. But OU wins in the bad luck department.
Sorry Sooners, all signs point to a good year in 2010 though.
I just hope all yearthe players that are not seniors come back and the seniors that can get an extra year for any reason they can, like Gresham since he could not play this year. I'm sure they will all go to the draft now though. I cannot believe we have lost so many players this year. What a tragedy.
But, again, this is entertainment. It sucks that the Sooners are having a bummer of a season. It certainly does not thrill me.
On the other hand, I have noticed that the sun continues to rise even if my favorite college team loses. I worry some of these people are headed out their their garage to start their '72 Mercury Comet with the garage door down, their car windows open, to take that final ride into the Sooner Sunset, where they will meet Billy Vessels.
Take your meds! Chill. Two young men have modest injuries. Their moms did not die. They will go on to full, productive lives.
You might be suicidal over these events, but they aren't. Its part of the risk of the game.
Sheesh, the way some people act, you'd think it was 9/11/01 all over again.
This is entertainment, folks, not war. Some of you need to get a life.
Bryan, when you lose your job down at the Quickie Mart, I am sure Brody and Austin will be all broken up about it and post all sorts of woe-is-me posts on the "Quickie Mart Employees" blog site.
One thing is sure, OU coaches will never make the mistake of thinking a football team only needs to field 22 players. From now on, OU's twos and threes should be as prepared, confident and hungry as the ones. If there is one thing Bob Stoops teams have shown, its that the step down to the back-ups is huge. That just can't be the case.
Everyone needs to be ready to play, and everyone needs to be geared up to seize the moment. Geared up. Amped. Ready to knock someone out.
We haven't been that way all year on offense. I heard OU coaches are thinking of making offensive linemen out of D-linemen. They've done it before. Some are even in the NFL. We need that attitude.
State/Iowa game earlier this year on T.V. ISU fans were going crazy wild, out of their seats and heads cheering for their team. Asked myself, "How do those poor Cyclones fans get up, year after year, when they know, without a doubt, how the season is going down?" Then I thought, "How many people ask themselves the same thing about us (OSU fans) when they catch a Cowboys game on televison?" Have personally had to answer the question too many times, "how do you root for OSU, year in, year out, when you've been let down so many times?" Answer is, my love and loyalty lies with my alma mater. Anyway, coulda done without the profanity, but really appreciate reading a response, like yours, that gets to why we LOVE college football, no matter our schools, tradition, etc. . . we fanatically cheer on the kids who sign with and play so dedicatedly for our schools because they've been sold on and, apparently, truly believe as we do that the dream (however delusional) of winning a championship might actually, one day, come true.
It can "always" get worse. Just ask SMU fans after getting the death penalty in 1987 and 1988.
At least there's going to be a season next year for OU fans. Since 1989 SMU has only defeated 2 ranked teams, has only 1 winning season, and is 58-153-3!
Then a bio-plague...
Did Stoops make some sort of Faustian bargain back in 1999 and the Devil now wants what is due to him?
We may be approaching the time when human sacrifice will be necessary to appease the Gods of Football. Except it will be difficult to find a virgin at OU (and Computer Science majors don't count).
