OU's Buddy Hield to participate in Kevin Durant Skills Academy

Oklahoma junior guard Buddy Hield will get some high-level instruction this weekend when he participates in the Kevin Durant Skills Academy.
The event will be held Friday through Saturday in Washington, D.C.
Durant will host 15 of the nation’s top 15 collegiate and 30 of the top high school wing players for five workouts over the two-and-a-half day event.
“I’m honored,” Hield said in a release. “It’s something I really want to do and something that will be good for me; go through drills see where I am compared to the other top shooting guards in the country.
“KD’s a great player. I’m looking forward to what he can teach me.”
Hield received his invitation in April in the form of a two-and-a-half inch gold Nike basketball shoe shaped flash drive.
Hield said he hoped to also earn an invitation to the LeBron James Skills Academy in July in Las Vegas. James invited 30 of the top college basketball players in the country.
“This weekend is a chance for me to continue to develop my overall skills,” Hield said. “I’ve been working to improve my ball-handling, my mid-range jump shot and just be more of an all-around player. I also need to get better at attacking the basket.”
Attacking the basket is what Sooners coach Lon Kruger said recently that he was looking for more of from Hield during his junior season.
Hield developed his outside game last season when he started every one of OU’s 33 games and led the Sooners with 16.5 points per game. He also averaged 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals. He made 90 3-pointers, shooting 38.6 percent from behind the 3-point line.
