•About Owen: Owen lost his right arm in a hunting accident in 1907, but he continued to coach the football and basketball teams. He was one of the first coaches in the Southwest to use the forward pass and produced four undefeated seasons, including the 10-0 1915 Southwest Conference championship season.

•Signature game: In 1912, the Sooners beat Texas 21-6 in the rivalry's first Dallas meeting. Owen was the first Sooner coach to beat Texas, knocking off UT 2-0 in his first season.
