OU's Neuse competes for spot on Team USA

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — University of Oklahoma infielder and pitcher Sheldon Neuse is competing for a spot on the Team USA Collegiate National Team.

Neuse is one of nearly 30 players taking part in training camp and games before the final roster of 24 players is selected. Neuse has played third base and designated hitter in two games thus far and also pitched one inning to earn a save.

Neuse was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year after hitting .304 with seven home runs and 47 RBI. As a pitcher he made nine appearances with one save, a 1-0 record and a 2.25 ERA.

The Team USA Collegiate National Team is coached bu University of Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn.
