Outdoors notebook: Archery, bowhunting classes offered at Summer Expo

H&H Shooting Sports will offer archery, kids archery, bowhunting and concealed carry options classes as part of the store’s annual Summer Expo on July 17-19.

Called Expo University, space is limited for the classes, and registration is required. For more information, visit www.HHShootingSports.com.

WHISTLERFEST FOR KIDS SCHEDULED JULY 19 AT ARCADIA LAKE

The Central Oklahoma 89ers chapter of Quail Forever will hold its “WhistlerFest” July 19 for ages 5 and older.

The youth event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arcadia Conservation Education Center at Arcadia Lake. Fishing, hiking, nature photography and archery are just some of the activities that kids may participate in.

CAMO AND PEARLS EVENT IN MIDWEST CITY

The National Wild Turkey Federation will have a Camo and Pearls event Saturday in Midwest City.

Brenda Valentine will be the guest speaker for the event at the Reed Conference Center.

Valentine is a national spokeswoman for the National Wild Turkey Federation and co-host of Bass Pro Shops’ “Real Hunting” television show.

The Camo and Pearls event will start at 5:30 p.m. and include a raffle plus silent and live auctions.

FAMED MOUNTAINEER TO SPEAK IN ARDMORE

Mountaineer Peter Athans, who has earned the nickname “Mr. Everest,” will speak July 22 at 7 p.m. at the Ardmore Convention Center.
