Outdoors notebook: Sooner Lake-record bass caught

Roger Robison of Skiatook caught an 11.4-pound largemouth bass last Sunday that is the new lake record for Sooner Lake.

The fish is now swimming in the aquarium at Bass Pro Shops in Broken Arrow.


The 59th annual four-day OKC Winter Boat Show opens Thursday in the Travel and Transportation Building and Cox Pavilion at State Fair Park.

Boats, boat accessories, ski equipment, personal watercraft and apparel will be on display.

Kids can fish for trout in the trout tank, and dozens of vendors will be selling merchandise. Professional anglers Jeff Kriet, Kenyon Hill, Kevin Short, Guido Hibdon and Dion Hibdon will be making appearances at the show.

Show hours are 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, noon until 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $5, and ages 12 and younger receive free admission. Discount coupons are available at Love's stores.

Feb. 1 is the deadline to enter the Blue River Fly Classic scheduled for Feb. 22 on the Blue River near Tishomingo. The Blue River Fly Classic is a single pattern, single fly event where each contestant gets the same fly.
