Outdoors notebook: Dean Rojas, Jason Kisselburg lead Fish and Chips tourney

Arizona pro angler Dean Rojas and partner Jason Kisselburg weighed in four bass Friday totaling 14.68 pounds to take the lead after the first day of competition in the Fish and Chips bass tournament on Arbuckle Lake.

Deer, bear muzzleloader season to open
Oklahoma’s nine-day deer muzzleloader season opens statewide today, while the bear muzzleloader season likely will open in southeastern Oklahoma.
As of Thursday, 16 black bears had been taken by bow hunters, leaving four more that could be killed before the bear season is closed.
A muzzleloader season on bears will open today if bow hunters have not reached 20 by then.
State wildlife officials are allowing only 20 bears to be killed by hunters during Oklahoma’s first black bear hunting season.
Black bear hunting is allowed in Pushmataha, Latimer, Le Flore and McCurtain counties.
Bear licenses for the muzzleloader season had to be bought by Thursday.
Duck, sandhill crane season to open
Today also is the season opener in duck hunting zone one northwest and north-central Oklahoma).
Nov. 7 will be the season opener for the rest of the state (duck hunting zone two). The first half of the waterfowl seasons ends Nov. 29 in both zones then reopens Dec. 12.
Duck hunting in the Panhandle counties already is under way and continues uninterrupted through Jan. 6.
Also today, sandhill crane season opens west of I-35.
