Owasso's Larry Turner, Ada's Skip Griese named National Coach of the Year by NFHS

Owasso baseball coach Larry Turner and Ada boys tennis coach Skip Griese were chosen as National Coach of the Year in their respective sports Tuesday by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Also, longtime announcer Don Blasingame was recognized with the State Award for Outstanding Service in the sport of wrestling.

The criteria used in selecting the coaches include career coaching records, community service, involvement in other school activities, involvement in their respective profession at local, state and national levels, and the coaches basic philosophy of athletics.
