SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Padres recalled Tommy Medica from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Medica, who made the team's roster out of spring training, will be in his third stint with the Padres this season.

He was hitting .213 in 24 games with El Paso.

Two right-handed Padres pitchers were designated for assignment: Billy Buckner and Blaine Boyer.

Left-hander Troy Patton, who was acquired in a trade with Baltimore for catcher Nick Hundley on Saturday, reported to the club.
