"I thought (Ross) threw the ball well," Black said. "I thought his stuff was good, his mix of pitches, fastball, curve, slider, was all there. They put the bat on the ball, hit some grounders through some holes. But, overall, he threw well."
After McCarthy left, Eury De La Rosa threw two perfect innings.
Martin Prado had three RBIs for Arizona. He is batting .365 (38 for 104) with four homers and 27 RBIs in his last 23 games.
Prado saw a different Ross than the one from the July shutout.
"Last time, he had a nasty breaking pitch and hard slider," he said. "This time, he elevated his pitches and we took advantage."
Prado had a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded in the sixth, Prado's grounder to third was booted by Chase Headley, allowing two more runs to score.
