The Wellington Retirement Community recently held its 11th annual Ms. Wellington Pageant. This year’s theme was “Hit The Jackpot At The Wellington.”
Nine contestants competed for the title of Ms. Wellington: Sheila Lewis (resident’s choice), Gayle Shropshire (7th runner-up), Mille Wright (6th runner-up), Muriel Marriott (5th runner-up), Joanne Bell (4th runner-p), Etta Robinson (3rd runner-up), Madge Cottrell (2nd runner-up), Walta Miller (1st runner-up), and Judy Coleman (Ms. Wellington 2014).
The contestants were escorted by JROTC Cadets from Northwest Classen High School. Pevious pageant winners were honored and escorted by special guests.
A pre-pageant happy hour featured musical entertainment by jazz recording artist Justin Echols. The panel of judges consisted of community professionals from various businesses in the area. Many of the businesses contributed goodies for the contestant gift bags.
Thrifty Pharmacy sponsored the pageant T-shirts and New Leaf Florist provided the flowers. Samuel Gordon Jewelers presented each contestant with a pair of pearl earrings. Intermission entertainment was provided by The Oklahoma City Thunder Girls.
The pageant winners were crowned by Echols, and Coleman was presented with a trophy by Bragg Family Hearing Aide Center. Sheryl Presley with the Oklahoma City Police Department made a special presentation to Ms. Wellington 2014 as well.
