"Sensuality and Spectrum," a show featuring mixed media paintings by Yun Hendricks and beaded and polymer clay jewelry by Jieun Kim will open April 5 at In Your Eye Gallery, 2601 SW 119, Suit B, in the Paseo Arts District.

Opening reception is 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, April 5. The show runs through Sunday, April 28.

Utilizing a palette of bright, vivid hues, and creamy light neutrals, Yun Hendricks' subjects are both figurative and abstract. With the former, Hendricks incorporates bits of brightly colored fabric. Her abstract paintings possess a landscape quality (many echoing her native Korea) in which lines and shapes emerge and then blend.

"In my abstract pieces, lines and forms lose definition, but still convey a visually sumptuous landscape," she said.

Three-dimensional artist Jieun Kim creates jewelry both dramatic and fanciful using materials of colored polymer clay or iridescent beads. Kim composes earrings and necklaces of rounded organic forms in colors suggestive of earth and sky. Kim also embellishes functional items such as crystal wine goblets and stoneware coffee mugs.
