The paintings were unveiled Monday during a ceremony attended by Gov. Brad Henry and Stuart Solomon, president of Public Service Company of Oklahoma. The portraits are a gift to the state from PSO.

The paintings depict territorial governors George W. Steele, Abraham J. Seay, William C. Renfrow, Cassius M. Barnes, William M. Jenkins, Thomson B. Ferguson and Frank Frantz. They held Oklahoma's highest office between 1890 and 1907, when Oklahoma became a state.

The portraits are the work of artists Mike Wimmer of Norman, Christopher Nick of Oklahoma City and Timothy Tyler of Siloam Springs, Ark. They will hang in the foyer of the governor's large conference room on the Capitol's second floor.

Read the article! The paintings were not paid for by the state, but, rather are gifts from PSO. If you want to rant about something, rant about how you are being gouged at the electric meter and PSO is using those profits to give our state paintings. How about a rebate from PSO?

Well, this just tickles me pink! And how were these paintings paid for??? And will we need to put up special sun screens to keep them from fading like the others when the new 'usless dome' was installed? We have homeless and hungry men, women and children on the streets of Oklahoma City, but let's beautify our Captial..........idiots!!

Do you think they'll ever acquire any pictures of one of our best known Okies--Woody Guthrie? Probably too politically controversial.
