LONDON (AP) — Crystal Palace won a third straight English Premier League match when it beat slumping Aston Villa 1-0 on Saturday.
Palace overtook Villa on the table and moved to seven points above the relegation zone, while Villa was left only four points from the drop.
Both sides played with little urgency, but Palace had the best chances. Yannick Bolasie hit the crossbar just before halftime, and his cross fell to Jason Puncheon to score on the turn in the 76th minute. Puncheon hit the post soon after, but Palace had done enough to condemn Villa to a fourth straight league defeat.
