PANAMA CITY (AP) — Panama beat Canada 2-0 in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, with goals from Rolando Blackburn and Blas Perez.
Blackburn out-jumped defenders in the 26th minute to head in off a post. Perez scored in the 56th after a pass from Alberto Quintero.
Panama leads Group C of CONCACAF qualifying with nine points from four games, followed by Honduras and Canada on seven points each. Cuba has no points.
The top two will advance to the next group stage, which will produce three qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Canada hosts Cuba on Oct. 12, when Honduras is at Panama. In the final group games four days later, Panama is at Cuba and Canada is at Honduras.
