Panathinaikos, Atromitos play to scoreless draw

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Atromitos and visiting Panathinaikos battled to a scoreless draw in the Greek league Saturday.

The two teams had several chances to score, especially in the second half, but the closest they got was hitting the woodwork. First through Panathinaikos' Nikos Karelis' fierce drive caroming off the bar in the 78th minute before Stefano Napoleoni's close range header for Atromitos hit the right post in the 89th.

The draw allowed both teams to catch PAOK in second place, 17 points behind already-crowned champion Olympiakos, which hosts bottom-placed, relegated Aris Sunday. PAOK also plays at home, against newcomer Kalloni.

Elsewhere, Panionios beat Asteras 3-0 and Panetolikos and Veria played out goalless draw.
