Panthers' Rivera: Lineman could play vs Seattle

Published: October 5, 2012

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers coach Ron Rivera says there is still a chance offensive guard Geoff Hangartner could play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Hangartner worked with Carolina trainer Ryan Vermillion on Friday, but he remains listed as questionable for the game with a knee injury.

Rivera says Hangartner's work with Vermillion "was not bad" and that the Panthers will see how the guard "reacts" Saturday morning. The coach says, "Ideally, if he's ready to go, you've still got to really test it and find out on Sunday."

Meanwhile, Rivera says Garry Williams is ready to start in Hangartner's place, if necessary.

Linebacker Jon Beason (knee) and cornerback Chris Gamble (shoulder) remain listed as doubtful. Rivera says he's "disappointed" and it's unlikely either will play against the Seahwawks.
