PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pitt coach Paul Chryst says the Panthers are going to rely on several players to replace the production of former defensive lineman Aaron Donald.

Donald was an All-American last year while racking up 11 sacks and 28.5 tackles for loss. He's now in the NFL, forcing Pitt to regroup.

Juniors Darryl Render and Khaynin Mosley-Smith have impressed early in training camp. Both players have run with the first team and have the inside track to start when Pitt opens the 2014 season on Aug. 30 against Delaware.

Render slimmed down to 285 pounds in the offseason while increasing his strength. The Panthers hope he can be the kind of disruptive force that made Donald nearly unstoppable at times a year ago.
