Park events highlight Yukon summer fun

Bark in the Park is back for its ninth year in Yukon.

The Yukon Parks and Recreation Department will host Bark at the Park on June 12.

The event is in conjunction with the opening concert of the Concerts in the Park series at Kay Wright Chisholm Trail Park Gazebo, 500 W Vandament. Bark in the Park kicks off the same evening with a $1 hot dog night, dog contests, music featuring Smilin’ Vic and the Soul Monkeys and a screening of the film “Beethoven.”

The dog activities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a costume contest, best trick, best bark and other ways to show off your doggie’s talents. Registration begins at 6 p.m. at the gazebo area.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. with the blues and Motown sounds of yesteryear. The outdoor movie begins right after the concert ends at 8:30 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The concert on June 19 will feature the country band Core Country. “The Lego Movie” will be shown after the concert.
