Party: University of Oklahoma President David L. Boren and his wife, Molly Shi Boren, were hosts at a going away brunch at their private home, southwest of Norman, for a party honoring Doris Littrell, retired owner of the Oklahoma Indian Art Gallery in south Oklahoma City. She planned to move to the northeast part of the United States to be close to family.

Menu: Chicken Kiev, fresh lemonade, Arnold Palmers (half tea and half lemonade) and iced tea were served to the guests, friends and art clients, including Merlin Little Thunder, Tripp Hall, Bill Wiggins, Virginia Stroud, Robert Taylor, Ron White, Deborah and Bill Mas on, Dan Brackett, Tammy Polasek, Sally and Marshall Gettys and Ann Dubler.

The finale: She decided to stay. “I'm not moving,” the honoree noted. (Editor's note: She made that decision Wednesday, but everyone decided to go ahead with the party Saturday. The event celebrated her staying!).

Reception: Cat and Bill Thompson were hosts in their Taos, N.M., home for a reception for people who attended classes at Oklahoma State University's Doel Reed Center for the Arts. They invited the alumni, friends of OSU and OSU alumni, plus local residents.

Classes: The classes on New Mexico Modernism from 1898 to 1940 included excursions to sites in the area associated with the topic.

Guests: Dr. Ed Walkiewicz, Santa Fe, N.M., director of the DR Center, Ann and Burns Hargis, Lela and Mark Sullivan, Deb and David Engle and actress and model Lauren Hutton were among the guests.

Fact facts: The Doel Reed Center for the Arts was established as a part of OSU's College of Arts and Sciences in 2009 to offer summer programs in several a number of fields. It includes land and facilities donated to the university by the late Martha Reed, the daughter of the late Doel Reed, who was an acclaimed artist and the first head of the OSU art department.
