What/where/who: The Catholic Charities Centennial Appreciation Dinner was held at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. The event paid tribute to Catholic Charities' 100 years of service in Oklahoma. Donors, volunteers, staff members, priests, nuns and deacons of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City attended. Archbishop Paul Coakley and the board of directors at Catholic Charities were hosts.
Program: Cardinal Roger Mahony was keynote speaker. Also on the program were Archbishop Coakley, Tim O'Connor and Patrick Raglow. Master of ceremonies was the Rev. Donald J. Wolf. There was a video and presentation of centennial history.
Guests: Among the 260 guests were Judy and Tom Love, Barbara and Paul Brou, Sarah and Chuck Wade, Patricia and Michael Milligan, Molly and Richard Bernard, Rhonda and Michael Carretero, Abe Castillo, Maria and Ron Wallace and the Rev. Lawrence Stasyszen.
Planning committee: the Rev. Eusebius J. Beltran, the Rev. Stephen J. Bird, Barbara Brou, Jennifer Dennis-Smith, Debbie Espinosa, Paula Hearn, Judy Love, Thomas Phan, Barney Semtner, Maria Wallace.
TWICE THE FUN
Book shower: Ella Lee and Spencer Cryder, twin daughters of Liza and Sterling Cryder, were honored at a book shower.
Hostesses: Carol Troy, Ann Gilliland, Ann Alspaugh, Leslie Wileman Fitch and Kathy Walker were hostesses in the Troy home.
Repeat: When mother Liza, daughter of Cheryl and Steve Browne, was born, a book shower was given in her honor by some of the same hostesses at the Troy home.
Best dressed: The twins wore pink smocked dresses and bonnets to greet the guests.
Table: The dining room table was decorated with Gerber daisies and Eloise and Madeline dolls and books which were gifts from the hostesses.
Gifts: Books from guests included “Good Night Moon,” “The Pokey Little Puppy” and an entire set of Peter Rabbit and various pop-up books.
Seen: Barbara Quillian, Kaye Cook, Shari Buxton, Libby Steakley, Dee Colley, Kristine Browne, Lauren Anthony, Sue Ann Hyde, Holly Healey, D'Arline McCubbin and Karen Browne.
Party: William Yeoward, of London, was at Bebe's in Nichols Hills Plaza to sign his new book, “American Bar,” which features his new line of American bar glassware. He signed books with very clever messages throughout the afternoon and he also signed books during the early evening when cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were served. He also signed Yeoward hand-cut crystal pieces that customers had purchased.
