Jones' suggestion

Hart Lee Dykes would like more recognition for his contribution while wearing an Oklahoma State football uniform.

Former Cowboys coach Pat Jones believes it's a bigger issue than simply honoring Dykes. Jones suggests honoring all of the former Cowboys who were among college football's top performers during their time at OSU.

“He's not the only former player that has felt a little bit slighted,” said Jones of the 1988 All-American receiver. “They could do a better job in that regard. I don't think Oklahoma State has featured its most prominent former players.”

Jones coached Dykes on a team that also featured quarterback Mike Gundy and running backs Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas. Oklahoma State has had plenty of other stars who did not play with those stars.

“Those are some of the more prominent players in Cowboy history,” Jones said. “Whether it's a plaza of champions or different ways of honoring (those guys). That's what the more prominent programs do.”
