OU's Allen Patrick uncorked a 69-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Then he got trumped.

Redshirt freshman DeMarco Murray zipped 92 yards for a third-quarter TD against Utah State, the third-longest run in OU history and the fourth-longest play from scrimmage.

"DeMarco's one of those guys, when he hits a seam, he's hard to catch,” said OU coach Bob Stoops.

How rare was the length of the run? Only eight previous plays from scrimmage in OU history covered at least 90 yards:

Yards Play Opp. Year
96 Jeff Frazier run N. Texas 1995
96 Buck McPhail run Kansas State 1951

91 Jimmy Harris run Kansas 1954

After seeing OU's play in the first three games, although the competition level may be a little unbalanced, I think the tide may turn back again in regard to the Longhorns. The Sooners are hitting on all cylinders, and Texas has struggled in some games. Barring injuries, OU should go a long way again this year. Curtis Lofton looks like the next great Sooner linebacker.
