TULSA — Music legend Sir Paul McCartney is planning a return engagement at the BOK Center in honor of the arena's fifth anniversary.
Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett and venue staff announced at a news conference Friday that the former Beatle is adding a May 29 Tulsa show to his 2013 “Out There” tour.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and will be available at www.bokcenter.com, Arby's Box Office, all Tickets.com outlets, or by phone at (866) 726-5287.
Ticket prices have not yet been announced, according to a venue representative.
McCartney, 70, last played Oklahoma in 2009, when he performed a sold-out show as part of the BOK Center's first anniversary celebration. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer played his first-ever Sooner State show in 2002 just months after the Oklahoma City arena now known as Chesapeake Energy Arena opened.
The Tulsa concert is one of only five U.S. dates planned on his “Out There” trek, which will play Austin, Texas, on May 22; Boston's Fenway Park on July 9; and Manchester, Tenn.'s massive Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in June. In addition, McCartney on July 12 will return to Washington, D.C. — the site of The Beatles' first U.S. concert in 1964 at the Washington Coliseum.
