Paul Petrino served as an assistant coach at Idaho in the early 1990s and has also coached at Utah State, Illinois, Louisville and with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.

In his first head coaching job at Idaho, Petrino can increase his salary by resurrecting the program.

He'll get an additional $13,400 for winning at least seven games, $10,000 if he wins national coach of the year honors and $100,000 for an appearance in a BCS bowl.

Petrino would get $25,000 if the Vandals go to a non-BCS bowl.

The last time Idaho played in a bowl game was in 2009, when it won the Humanitarian Bowl during Akey's lone winning season. Akey was 20-50 in just over five years with the program.
