Event: Splendor in the Grass.

Venue: Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Grand benefactor: The Chickasaw Nation.

To celebrate: Myriad Botanical Gardens 25th anniversary.

Money raised: Around $226,000.

Chairmen: Linda Haneborg was chairman and David Holt co-chairman. Patron party chairman was Jean McLaughlin, logistics chairman was Shelly A. McInroe, entertainment co-chairmen were Marek Cornett and Kent Phillips and marketing chairman was Gail Huneryager. Dannie Bea Hightower and Lee Allan Smith were honorary co-chairmen.

The evening: Aptly named “Splendor in the Grass,” the evening was indeed “splendiferous.” The grounds, Crystal Bridge, band shell and panels in the paths, as well as other areas, were lit with magnificent displays of colorful lighting. The sellout crowd of 350 dined al fresco seated at long tables extended across the Great Lawn. Kyle Dillingham and other entertainers performed. Chef Kurt Fleischfresser's Red Wine Braised No Name Ranch Beef and hickory smoke-roasted Berkshire and Durock Pork and Avis Scaramucci's chocolate cake, topped with chocolate icing, almonds, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, chocolate straws and edible flowers, rounded out the menu. A VIP reception for sponsors and an after-party featuring cocktails, snacks and the Born In November band was held in the Gardens Restaurant.

A fact: The Myriad Botanical Gardens is a 17-acre urban botanical garden and conservatory in downtown Oklahoma City.

Seen: Pat and Ray Potts, Jeanette and Rand Elliot, Suzie and Tommy Gray, Shawnee and Joanna Britton, Bob and Heather Ross, Gerry and Ken Bonds, Susan and Carl Edwards, Annie Bohanon and Henry Browne, Lynn and John Robberson, Meg Salyer and Marnie Taylor.
