KEEPING UP APPEARANCES

What: Boots, Bandanas and Barbecue.

Where: Governor’s Mansion Pavilion.

Presented by: Friends of the Mansion.

Purpose: To raise funds for maintenance, upkeep, renovation and restoration of the governor’s mansion.

HEART HEALTHY

Event: Go Red for Women Luncheon.

Where: Skirvin Hilton Hotel.

Presented by: American Heart Association, Southwest Affiliate.

Purpose: To raise awareness about heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women in the United States.

Program: Welcome: Gov. Mary Fallin and special guests; Matilda Hernandez gave a testimonial about how her son is overcoming a congenital heart defect thanks to the research funded by the Association; and Dr. Jeffrey Sparling shared life-saving information about women’s heart health.

THANKS FOR THE HELP

Event: Victory Luncheon for Literary Voices Committee Members.

Where: Home of Elaine Levy, chairman of the fund-raiser.

Figures: Literary Voices set a record, netting more thanr $146,000, which was $40,000 over its goal.

Good to know: Cindi Shelby will be the chairman and Catherine Armitage co-chairman for the 2015 Literary Voices benefit and P.J. O’Rourke will be the guest author and speaker.

Some of the luncheon crowd included Sody Clements, Terri Cooper, Rita Dearmon, Mary Price, Tamara Hermen, Kathy Williams and library staff members Diane Sarantakos, Chris Carroll and Sarah Blaney.
