THE COLOR RED
Event: Red Tie Night.
Venue: Grand Ballroom, Cox Center.
To benefit: Oklahoma AIDS Care Fund.
The evening: Masses of beautiful flowers donated by local florists, which has become a hallmark of this tremendously successful fundraiser, set the stage for the evening, which included cocktails, silent auction, dinner, live auction and music by The Dr. Larry “T-Byrd” Gordon & The Music People Luv Orchestra/Show Band.
Chairmen: Paula Love was chairman and Michael Laird co-chairman. The advisory committee included Ann Simmons Alspaugh, Lu Beard, Aline Brown, J. Donald Capra, Stephen Daniels, Drew Edmonson, Ann Felton, Joseph J. Ferretti, Leslie Rainbolt-Forbes, Kay Goebel, Joffa Kerr, Stephen M. Prescott, George Records, Jim Roth and Carol W. Troy. Some of the other committee members were Rick Moses, Mary Ruffin, Jim Vallion, Genea Vallion, Mark Beutler, Jane Anderson, Dee Dugan, Linda Garrett, Bill Gumerson, Mary Ellen Gumerson, David Leader, Brenda McDaniel, James A. Pickel, Tim Rasmussen, Sally Starling and Stacey Stiglets. Mary Streich is president of the executive committee.
Honored: Robert Painter received the Richard May Award for exemplary service to those living with HIV/AIDS.
Note: The OACF was formed in 1991 by Jackie and Barbara Cooper. The first RTN was held in 1992. The event has grossed more than $11 million with all of the proceeds remaining in Oklahoma.

Honorees: Marion Paden received the Dulaney-Browne Library Society Award, Linda Whittington the Kirkpatrick-Petree Opera and Music Theatre Society Award, Ann Kraft Gray the Norick-Hulsey Gallery Society Award, and Jenee Naifeh Lister the Oklahoma City University Distinguished Philanthropist Award.
Event chairmen: Annie Bohanon and Jane Thompson. Cathy Leichter is president of the Societies.
Entertainment provided by: Wanda L. Bass School of Music.
Proceeds provide: Program and scholarship support for Oklahoma City University.
A CELESTIAL GROUP
Event: Gathering of Angels Benefit Luncheon.
Where: Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.
Hosted by: Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club of Oklahoma City.
To benefit: Help fund literacy programs for the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County, the Payne Education Center, Celebrations Preschool and Whiz Kids.
Guest speaker: Laura Johnson CEO and designer of Coton Colors, Inc. which was founded in 1995.
Special: Guests were given the opportunity to buy halos to wear during the luncheon, enjoy a live auction and purchase Coton Colors products from retailer Paper ‘N More, which contributed 10% of the proceeds to the literacy programs.

Event: P.E.O, a Philanthropic Organization Founder’s Day Luncheon.
Where: Quail Creek Golf & Country Club.
To promote: Educational opportunities for women.
The program: Seven costumed women portrayed one of the seven founders of P.E.O., which began in 1869, and handed out recipes at the end of the program. State President Peggy Alverson introduced and recognized officers. Pam Guffy introduced past state presidents and Rita Pierce was the moderator.
