Peggy Gandy: Social Scene: Sept. 22

Patron Party, Benefit, Ball, 50th Anniversary, Fashion Show
By Peggy Gandy Published: September 22, 2013

What: Cocktail/Fashion Show.

Where: The Consortium in Casady Square.

Presented by: The Consortium and Annie Bohanon.

To benefit: YWCA Campaign for Domestic Violence Center.

The event: Consortium, a small but elegant shop that carries only upscale fashions, presented a style show that was straight off a New York runway. Edgy music, wonderful cutting-edge styles (and models) and eye-popping stilettos made this show truly a one of a kind. A pianist outside the shop played for arriving guests. Large containers sitting high, held extremely long stemmed roses and waiters passed around trays of hors d'oeuvres. Guests seemed to favor the Champagne being served at an open bar. Merchandise from the store had been moved to an empty shop next door to make room for the 60 guests and models. Raffle chances for gifts also were sold.

YWCA campaign supporters seen were Phyllis Brawley, Betty Crow, Barbara Cooper, Linda Garrett, Lela Sullivan, Tricia Everest, Annie Bohanon, Kris Frankfurt, Rita Moore, Linda Rosser, Jeaneen Naifeh and Pam Shadid.

Event: 14th Annual Mission of Hope Banquet.

Where: National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

Host: City Rescue Mission.

The program: Comedian Jeff Allen was the featured entertainment. The evening also included testimonials from people whose lives were changed through the City Rescue Mission and programs it offers.

Event: Lyric Understudies — A Night at the Races.

Where: Remington Park.

Hosted by: Remington Park and Kathy Luman.

What: A celebration of Lyric's 50th anniversary and a chance to learn more about becoming an understudies member. Beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres were served. Entertainment by Lyric performers and live racing.
