Honored: Former Gov. George Nigh, Donna Nigh and Toby Keith were honored as recipients of the awards. Renzi Stone was Nigh's presenter, Kim Henry was Donna Nigh's presenter and Barry Switzer presented singer/songwriter Keith.
About: The JFK Community Service Award was established in 2007 by the Oklahoma City Knights of Columbus Council 1038 to recognize Oklahomans who, through their philanthropic efforts, have served the greater community in lasting and meaningful ways. The Award program benefits the many community outreach programs of Santa Fe Family Life Center.
Event: Red Earth Painted Pony.
What: Opening of Oklahoma Classics Weekend at Remington Park.

The evening: Artist booths, Indian dancers, teepees, storytellers, Indian princesses and painted lead ponies to lead the race horses onto the track.

What: Guests mingled and tasted samplings of signature dishes from 12 of the city's locally owned restaurants.
Event: Rainbow Fleet Ruby Jubilee — 40th Anniversary.
Where: Castle Falls Event Center.
Special guest: Kevin Clash, the voice and heart of Elmo, a make-believe character on television who entertains children on the Sesame Street TV show.
The evening: Art, music, raffle and door prizes. Also, an hourlong conversation with Kevin Clash who recounted his journey of making puppets from scraps to entertain the children in his mother's in-home day care to becoming the worldwide phenomenon of Elmo. Clash was presented a watercolor painting by Oklahoma City Memorial co-designer Torrey Butzer. Awards were presented to honorees for their cumulative service of 63 years in the child care profession. Alex Cameron was Master of Ceremonies. Matilda Clements was chairman.
